Autumn Season Change - 30th of September 2024
As the year turns to allow us to marvel at it’s most colourful season and crisp sounds why not relax with us at the ZZR and enjoy the scenery that make more than one picturesque postcard. Let us take you back to a time honoured tradition where the world glides by in total comfort. Let the autumnal platforms take you to a hot chocolate filled adventure only steam power can conjure up, wave at the staff and the wildlife as they busy themselves with the change of season, stoves working hard making tea you can only find around the rails.

Spook Service - 21st of October to 1st of November 2024
You know that feeling that makes you look behind you or makes you ponder why you had never noticed the slate works just off Ahndang and the lonely figure that stands there watching the trains go by. Then there is that surreal chill that seems to take hold of the carriages at this time of the year, that must be because it’s autumn…. Or is it?
Spooktacular season has returned! The trains tend to embrace the season and you will most likely see a lot of otherworldly things around the ZZR. Are you brave enough to disembark at the old slate works and look for the lady in black or maybe pop your head into the sheds at Cyfnos, I can’t promise you won’t lose it, we cannot assure you that your journey won't lead to a unexpected conclusion!

Little Coverston - Bonfire Night Fireworks Display - 2nd of November 2024
Remember, Remember the 5th of November. Gunpowder, Treason and Rails!?! Follow the line to the end and look for fire! Help us celebrate one of the most well known treason plots to ever take place in England. Spectacular evenings filled with breathtaking views and if you time it right a dazzling fireworks display.
Hop aboard one of our Direct Services departing from… well anywhere you see a train, and if you make the journey to celebrate with us we might break out the warm cups of hot chocolate.

Tracks to Trenches - 4th of November to 12th of November 2024
The ZZR will again move to a war footing to pay tribute to any and all who has made the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom and liberties. The railway will transform to the little remembered and rarely celebrated role of the railways during the first world war, home and abroad and their continued service through other conflicts such as the second world war. The sacrifice of anyone who worked the rails during this time should never be forgotten.
During this special tribute, the ZZR will transform into a front-line service, paying homage to all those who served during this critical period in history. You can choose to ride the rails in our Troop Transport, experiencing the journey as soldiers did, or join the munitions train responsible for supplying our troops on the front lines.

Monty Remembered - 17th of November 2024
A personal remembrance for the ZZR is the passing of the family puppy who brought only joy and happiness to them for 13 remarkable years before passing away at the age of 14. Although Monty may no longer be with us his spirit lives on in our hearts and his mischievousness lives on at Little Coverston beach where he passes time pushing people into the sea.
In honour of this beloved companion, Montgomery, the locomotive named after our dear Monty, will be in operation adorned with a solemn black ribbon. This symbolic gesture serves as a touching remembrance of the joy and companionship he brought into our lives.

Winter Season Change - 2nd of December 2024
As autumn is blown aside to be replaced with the frost of winter and we are forced to break out the scarves and hats remember the ZZR is waiting to whisk you off into a new winter wonderland. Retrieve that cherished flask and fill it with your favourite seasonal hot drink. Gather your warmest blanket and a friend or two and embark on a journey to our beloved railway.
Step into the cosy refuge of our first-class carriage, where the frosty glass provides a breathtaking glimpse into the serene winter landscape and you can take a moment to share a comforting hug with your companion.
Santa Specials - 16th of December to 6th of January 2025
As you peer out of your window and ponder if you were ‘naughty or nice’ this last year and how can you be sure that you were? Not to worry we have a member of staff that may be able to help. Yet again we have secured the services of Santa himself and he will waiting to have a quick chat and maybe sneak you a little gift if you have been exceptionally good this year.
This is your golden opportunity to sit down and have a heart-to-heart with the man in red, sharing your deepest wishes and hopes for the holiday season. Do keep in mind
that it's still winter, so be sure to bundle up warmly for your visit. And don't forget to bring along a few carrots, not just for the reindeer, but also for the chance encounter with a random bunny if you're lucky! Come join us at the ZZR and make this holiday season truly magical.
